2. General Information

I respect your privacy and take the protection of personal data seriously.

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you visit this website, contact me or use its services, and how that information is processed.

Personal data is processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable German data protection laws.

3. Website Hosting and Server Logs

This website is currently hosted by Beget LLC, a hosting provider based in the Russian Federation.

When you visit the website, technical connection data, including your IP address, may be processed as necessary to deliver the website, maintain its functionality and protect its security.

Website access and error logging options available in the hosting control panel are disabled.

The hosting provider may nevertheless process technical information and maintain infrastructure-level security logs independently of these settings.

The legal basis for technically necessary processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on the legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website.

4. Contact Form and Email Correspondence

When you contact me through this website or directly by email, I process the information you provide, including your name, email address and message.

This information is used to respond to enquiries concerning my books, screenplays, historical research, speaking engagements, guided historical tours and potential professional collaborations.

The website’s contact forms send messages by email using the WordPress mail system. The forms themselves do not store submitted messages in the WordPress database.

Email correspondence is processed using Google’s Gmail service.

For protection against spam and automated submissions, the forms use technical security measures, including temporary rate limiting based on a cryptographic hash derived from the visitor’s IP address. The corresponding rate-limit records are configured to expire after 30 minutes.

The legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where an enquiry concerns contractual or pre-contractual matters, and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for other correspondence and technically necessary anti-spam protection.

Correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to handle the enquiry and any subsequent professional relationship, subject to applicable statutory retention obligations.

Book Release Notifications

Where a book release notification form is available, visitors may request to be informed when a particular book or edition becomes available.

The name, email address and information provided in the request are used for this purpose. The legal basis for sending the requested notification is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).

Consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting annapeicheva@gmail.com.

These requests are transmitted by email and are not stored by the form in the WordPress database.

5. Website Statistics

This website uses WP Statistics, a privacy-focused analytics plugin, to understand website traffic and improve its content and usability.

WP Statistics collects general information about page views, referral sources, browser and operating system types, device categories and approximate geographical locations.

In its privacy-preserving configuration, IP addresses are anonymised and hashed before storage. The plugin does not use tracking cookies or persistent identifiers to follow visitors across websites.

Analytics data is stored locally in the website’s WordPress database and is not automatically transferred to the plugin developer.

Further information is available in the WP Statistics Privacy Documentation.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies.

WP Statistics is configured to collect website usage statistics without tracking cookies. The contact form uses server-side security measures to prevent automated submissions, without relying on third-party CAPTCHA services.

WordPress may use technically necessary cookies for administrative functions and authenticated users.

No cookies, Local Storage or Session Storage entries were detected during a test of the public homepage in a private browser session.

If non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies are introduced in the future, consent will be obtained where required by applicable law.

7. External Links and Third-Party Services

This website contains links to external websites and services, including YouTube, Google Drive and my Russian-language website, annapeicheva.ru.

When you follow an external link, the destination website may process personal data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

Locally Hosted Fonts

This website uses the Gentium Book Plus and Philosopher typefaces. Font files are hosted locally on the website’s server and are not loaded from Google Fonts servers.

8. International Data Transfers

This website is currently hosted by Beget, a hosting provider based in the Russian Federation. The hosting of this website may involve the processing of visitors’ personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Email correspondence is handled through Google services, which may also involve international data transfers.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, the applicable requirements of Chapter V of the GDPR must be observed.

9. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights, subject to the applicable legal conditions:

  • The right to access your personal data
  • The right to request correction of inaccurate data
  • The right to request erasure of your data
  • The right to restrict processing
  • The right to data portability, where applicable
  • The right to object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise your rights, please contact:

annapeicheva@gmail.com

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
